Attorney Biographies
Charles Miller Charles M. Miller helped to establish immigration law as a field of
legal specialization. He is currently chair of the Compliance Auditing Standards
Task Force established by the American Immigration Lawyers Association
to create model U.S. standards for the best practices and ethics for
worksite enforcement compliance auditing under the Department of
Homeland Security regulations and related employment laws.
A
former INS attorney, Charles M. Miller has been recognized in Super Lawyers,
Corporate Counsel Edition, and The Best Lawyers in America (1991 to present).
Charles Miller authors Immigration Law in the Workplace (Aspen
Publishers)with co-authors Marcine Seid and Christopher Stowe, which
provides guidance to U.S. companies concerning their immigration
obligations and benefits for foreign employees.
Charles Miller was joined in the law practice in 1990 by his wife and partner, Terri Senesac Miller. Terri Miller formerly served the legacy U.S. Immigration & Naturalization Service in Los Angeles, Boston, New York, Washington, D.C. and Manila, Philippines. She was honored by the Justice Department’s Special Achievement Award and the Outstanding Performance Award. While working for the firm, she attended the University of Southern California Law Center where she graduated with a Juris Doctor degree. Terri is listed in Martindale-Hubbells Bar Registry of Preeminent Lawyers.
In 2005, John Bartos, widely acknowledged as the Justice Department’s top West Coast immigration litigator, joined the firm after he left government service. These three are all mentioned favorably in Best Lawyers in America, an unprecedented honor for a U.S. immigration law specialty law firm.
Mr. Bartos served as Special Counsel, U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement from 2001 until his retirement in 2004. He served as the Special Assistant United States Attorney for immigration litigation from 1991-2001. Mr. Bartos is a graduate of UCLA School of Law (J.D. 1973) and Truth Theological Seminary (M.A. Biblical Studies, 2005) and retired from the U.S. Army Reserves with the rank of Lieutenant Colonel (2004). Mr. Bartos is a member of the State Bar of California.
